Eberhard is excited to introduce industry-leading Roof Coatings that significantly expand the life of Roof Systems allowing them to operate at their full potential.

These liquid-applied Roof Coatings enhance the Roof System by creating a uniform membrane that serves as a protective, waterproof overlay. Roof Coating applications work with numerous Roof Systems and installations are often recommended for either a new or pre-existing roof to expand the operational expectancy. Roof Coatings are a valuable element and solution to be considered in a roofing strategy as there are an array of applications and significant benefits such as energy efficiency, reduced resource demand and consumption, affordability, and environmental protection.
BENEFITS
Choosing the right
Roof Coating material
for your roof
Roof Coatings work well with a variety of Roof Systems including single-ply (TPO and EPDM), built-up, metal, modified bitumen, and select asphalt shingle and foam roofs. These coatings should be selected depending on needs, compatibility, and purpose.

Acrylic
Acrylic coatings are a serviceable solution for a or a variety of conventional roof types, including modified bitumen, metal, built-up, single ply, spray foam, and generally the choice for sloped metal roofs. Acrylic roof coatings are cost-effective, highly UV resistant and reflective.
This option is easily applied via spraying or rolling on the existing substrate of the roof. Cold temperatures slow down the drying time and make it hard for the acrylic to adhere to the roof. They cannot be applied when temps drop below fifty degrees, therefore acrylic coatings tend to be better in the southwestern and western states.
Silicone
Silicones are extremely UV stable and reflect up to 90% of the sun’s rays. This UV resilience reduces the cooling, lowers utility bills, and increases indoor comfort. Silicone is an excellent solution when facing ponding as its durability enables it to maintain integrity under stressful circumstances. Silicones are moisture cured and the need for primer is eliminated in some applications.
It is hard to adhere to silicone, so when a roof needs re-coating, you’ll need to either remove the coating completely or re-coat with a compatible silicone
Polyurethane
Urethane roof coatings are among the strongest and most durable elastomeric coatings available in the industry. They are most used for sprayed-in-place polyurethane foam insulation as well as other commercial roofing substrates including modified bitumen, single-ply, EPDM, BUR, and concrete roof decks.
There are two types of urethane roof coating – aliphatic and aromatic
Aliphatic urethane coatings are UV stable, hold color longer, resist dirt pick up, and are typically used as a topcoat.
Aromatic urethane coatings are not as UV stable, cost less, and are most commonly used as a base coat in most systems.
What’s the next best step for your roof?
Before moving forward, verify that your Roof System meets the requirements needed to properly host a Roof Coating. Roof Coatings are not a substitute for a roof replacement and a roof should be inspected for weaknesses such as wet insulation and loss of adhesion before a Roof Coating application. Roof Coatings are a common solution applied in our Service Department during leak investigations. To get ahead of roof leaks and common failings, inquire about what Roof Coating best fits your Roof System during your next Annual Roof Maintenance appointment.
